Rifle Canyon is located at 7300 ft.
You can climb here all year round... if you are local and lucky enough. Other climbers (not lucky to live here locally) climb usually from April till mid-November. In the spring some sectors will be wet, you may expect that Wasteland and left side of the Project Wall will not dry out until June. Rifle is mostly dry and has good temps during summer.

The canyon stretches from North to South and its sides face West and East so one side is always in the shade. Climbing is usually done in relation to the amount of sun on the wall, so planning the day in regard to the sun exposure is paramount.
June, September and October are the best months to climb here although the nights can be cold (25-40F) - be prepared!

From end of June till late August it is hot during the day (85-95F). Starting early in the morning shade pays dividends. Evening tend to be stuffy and humid. Rain storms in July will often wipe your ass in the afternoons. Look for shade and overhangs to avoid getting fried or soaked.

Snow storms are not unusual from September till May.

In winter, the canyon is usually packed with snow but it is possible to climb on sunny walls like Antiphil or Bauhaus. In the middle of the winter some cliffs on the West side are covered by ice falls and the canyon become a destination for ice climbers.
